A Good Citizen

A good citizen is one who properly fulfills his/her role as a citizen. A good citizen is an asset of a country. There are many opinions as to what constitutes a good citizen. According to Theadore Roosevelt “the first requisite of a good citizen in this republic of ours is that he shall be able and will be able to pull his weight.” Education is a prerequisite to be a good citizen. Education helps citizens make good decision. Science literacy is another quality of a good citizen. A good citizen must have intellectual skills. He must be able to deliverate civilly, monitor the government, build
coalitions, manage conflict peacefully and fairly. A good citizen judges anything morally and lawfully. He plays a vital role in nation building. He abides by the laws and regulations at the country and this to ensure peace and happiness in the country. He never forgets his duties and responsibilities. He is truthful, smart, honest and reliable. He never commits any act controversial to the law and state. A good man excels in a single absolute virtue whereas a good citizen is measured in relation
to ruling and being ruled. We must try our best to be a good citizen.
